Our Top 5 Paint Colors & Color Pallets of 2020

Colors can greatly change the perception of our interior spaces making an interior feel larger, smaller, shorter, taller, wider, or more narrow. Color pallets can also evoke our unique personalities and emotions. These days there are at least 50 shades of everything and it can be a little overwhelming to pick out the right pallet that is suitable for your space and needs. Check out our previous blog for or a more in-depth look at the importance of color in a room. For now, let's take a look at our top five colors and color pallet must-haves that we've been obsessing over this year!

Modern Neutrals & Bold Accents

This master bedroom room design revolved around a calm neutral color palette of white, gray, and gold finishes for added warmth, while the blue accents added personality. We presented a standout blue accent wall as one of the options. Deep blue hues evoke confidence and in this case, worked as an accent to the overall lighter color palette. Create intimacy in your bedroom by painting your focal wall with a darker tone to contrast surrounding lighter colors.

Sophisticated & Timeless Transitional

This living room speaks casual sophistication with impeccable architectural details. The walls and molding or trims are all finished in Benjamin Moore's off-white color collection. Instead of going for a stark all-white base, this color brings warmth into the room with a great starting base for the rest of the decor. Complement the color pallet by layering sophisticated shades of browns or tans, creams, blacks, and brass. Finish off the transitional style with standout lighting like this gorgeous chandelier. We are loving this design style which is all about mixing the old and new. Take a look at our blog where we talk about how you can achieve this style.

Fun Bohemian & Evoking Personality

Most people wouldn't automatically go for green as their first color pick. Naturally, the color green brings nature to mind as it automatically brings emotions of positivity, balance, and feelings of the outdoors. If done correctly, green can add a refreshing sense of personality to a standard white bathroom or interior space. For a fun bohemian interior opt for interesting patterns and prints! You can also add a touch of interest and go for brass or gold metal finishes vs. the standard silver. Lastly, incorporate as much greenery real or faux to complement that nature vibe, as well as mixing additional shades of green into the room. This overall pallet is colorful yet muted and soft.

Creative Paint Ideas

Get creative with paint and have fun with adding a little more interest. If you're not the hands-on type and don't want to get your hands dirty, and just prefer leaving it up to the professionals then get in touch with us! However, for those DIY'ers make sure to have the appropriate tools for perfect execution. Buy high-quality brushes, painters tape, and (most importantly) make sure to color swatch your walls to better understand what the paint will look like when fully dried throughout different times of the day with natural and artificial lighting. This little tip is a serious game changer and will give you full confidence when taking the plunge to throw up a bold colour!

Have your inspiration images ready. There are several ways to give paint personality and room perception. Painted crown moldings the same color as your walls can heighten the room, while painting trim on walls can create depth and interest to a flat wall. Designer tip? Make sure to paint the trim first before applying it to the wall. Elongate and widen a corridor by painting the focal wall and ceiling in a darker color.
